How radio streaming works, plain and simple

Icecast v2 and Shoutcast server

Your encoder connects to a dedicated streaming server running Icecast v2 (and Shoutcast if you need it). It works with any software: BUTT, RadioDJ, Zara, Mixxx, Virtual DJ, OBS, SAM Broadcaster or the included InStream encoder. "Now playing" metadata reaches the player and the apps.

AAC at 128 kbps and HLS for every device

Every plan streams up to 128 kbps AAC, FM quality at half the data of MP3: one hour of listening is about 57 MB. The signal leaves through the anycast CDN in 24 datacenters and also in HLS, the format used by apps, modern browsers and smart speakers.

AutoDJ and fallback: never dead air

If the studio drops, AutoDJ takes over with your music and pre-recorded shows, and returns to live when you reconnect. With dual-node redundancy the stream keeps going even if an entire server fails. Real-time and per-show listener statistics.

Which control panel will I use?

You operate with our own panel, the most complete and robust on the market: real-time stats, source control, AutoDJ and scheduling. It is compatible with Icecast v2 and Shoutcast, so any standard encoder connects without friction.

What is AutoDJ and why do I need it?

AutoDJ plays your pre-recorded content so you broadcast 24/7 without leaving a PC on. It also acts as failover: if your live source drops, it takes over automatically so your station is never silent.

Can I have mobile apps with my own brand?

Yes. We build Android and iOS apps with your identity, including push notifications, floating chat, ChromeCast and AirPlay. We recommend defining them from the start so they integrate with your broadcast from day one.

Can I migrate my station without going off air?

Yes. We run the migration white-glove with zero downtime: we prepare your station on our infrastructure and switch over transparently, with no transition noticeable to your audience.

What if I have a problem after hours?

Your broadcast is monitored and backed by specialized 24/7 technical support, 365 days a year. The service also runs under a 99.998% SLA measured with compensation, so we stand behind your station's real availability.

How much does radio streaming cost?

It depends on how many simultaneous listeners you need: plans go from 500 to 5,000 listeners, all with 128 kbps AAC, no transfer charges and our own panel. Prices are published in ARS, USD and EUR; you can see them in the configurator on this page and order right away.

Icecast or Shoutcast? Which one should I use?

Both work and both are included. Icecast v2 is the current standard: it supports AAC+, HTTPS and "now playing" metadata natively, and it is what modern apps and players use. Shoutcast is there for older encoders or directories that require it. Any encoder connects: BUTT, RadioDJ, Zara, Mixxx, Virtual DJ, OBS, SAM Broadcaster, Winamp.

What bitrate should an online radio use?

128 kbps AAC is FM quality and it is included in every plan. One hour of listening uses about 57 MB, less than a short video. If your audience listens mostly on mobile data you can broadcast at 64 or 96 kbps AAC from the same panel; AAC sounds better than MP3 at the same bitrate.

Do I need my own server or technical knowledge?

No. The streaming server, player, statistics and backup are already operated by INOVANEX. You only connect your encoder with the details we give you, or upload your music to AutoDJ. If you come from another provider, we migrate you without going off air.

Can I broadcast from my phone or on location?

Yes. Any iOS or Android encoder app that supports Icecast or Shoutcast connects to your server with the same details. For mobile and outdoor broadcasts use 64 or 96 kbps AAC and keep AutoDJ on as a fallback: if the connection drops, the station stays on air by itself.

Will my station show up on Google?

Yes. Every station streaming with INOVANEX gets, at no cost, a public page at inovanex.com/radios/ with its player, details and schedule, indexable by Google for searches like "your station live". The HTML5 player also embeds on your own site with SSL.

Do you offer a money-back guarantee?

Yes. Monthly plans carry a 7-day guarantee and annual plans a 30-day guarantee, counted from activation. If the service does not work for you as expected, request the refund by ticket within that period. Domain registration and payment-processor fees are not included.
